How often is this taken? I understand the serving size is 4 but is that 4 before and 4 after a workout or 2 before and 2 after? Also I know many creatine products are supposed to be taken in much higher doses for the first few days, what doses would you recommend?
No matter what kind of creatine you take. Research strongly suggests that you should take at least 3 (and up to 5) grams, 4 to 5 times daily for the first 5 days - this loads the muscle, after which time you should take a 3 to 5 gram serving once or twiced daily to maintain creatine levels at near their maximum.
Creatine should be taken after exercise but taking it before is contorversial (may improve retention, may not and large doses could possibly cause stomach upset in some people).
The only exception is creatine formulas like Cell-Tech and Crea X-12 which require less frequent loading and maintenance dosing and are more effective for bigger and faster gains in mass and strength.
