Fat Burner Ingredient has Potential

10/02/09

By Mark Gilbert

Capsaicin is a natural chemical that is part of the “capsinoid” family, which is produced in chilli peppers. It is what gives hot peppers their burning effect when you eat them. Some peppers are so hot that they are virtually inedible by all but the bravest and most practiced people and some are quite mild. Many studies have suggested that capsaicin can increase the metabolic rate and cause weight and fat loss in animals and humans.

A recent study gave subjects a very small dose of capsinoids to determine whether they are safe and effective. This was a well conducted study which used sophisticated measurements of body weight and composition changes and was published in a very respected scientific journal. When all of the results were in, the researchers found that the group taking the capsinoids burned more fat and burned more fat in the abdominal region. These effects would not only remove more fat from the area in which most people accumulate it but it would also increase the health benefits versus losing fat from other parts of the body.

The final results on fat burning were not quite significant by the measures used by researchers to determine their effects but nevertheless, this kind of result certainly justifies more research on these novel forms of capsinoids.
